Iceland
Beautiful nature and loneliness
I traveled Iceland in 2016 and 2018. The first trip was all about hiking on the Laugavegur Trail. It has a distance of 55 kilometer. I took the typical route from North to South. 2018 was dedicated to a full trip across the entire Island with a 4-wheel drive car. I rented a Toyota Landcruiser and a modified version of the Landrover Defender - called Super Defender.
Road trip in 2019
For the road trip I tried to cover as much ground as possible in the middle part of Iceland. Only in the first 2-3 days I spent my time in the west of the Island.
The landscape is beautiful. Driving along the coast and fjords is fascinating.
Snæfellsjökull National Park in the west of the Island. This part was easy to reach from Reykjavik.
On the following it was not "allowed" to stop :) With the Super Defender it was not a problem at all to get through. Nevertheless, with any other Jeep it should be checked before crossing the large river bed.
It was absolut fun driving on the different tracks.
The stunning blue of Askja lake ...
Hiking trip 2018 - Laugavegur
This trip was a full hiking trip with accommodation in my own tent. Even in summer time the temperatures dropped down to -1 degrees celcius.
Amazing and easy to walk hiking trail. The only hurdle are rivers in between.
