Around 2 hours away from Shanghai you will find yourself quickly in the beautiful "Yellow Mountains". The weather conditions in May are very humid. I arrived at Pudong airport in Shanghai at 7.05am from Switzerland. Directly after the arrival I went to the bus station to catch a bus to Hongqiao train station. It costs only 38 RMB and takes approximately 1 hour drive. From there I took the bullet train to Huangshanbei North Railway Station.
At Huangshanbei North Railway Station you find a bus station that connects you directly to the Yellow Mountains. It takes another 45-60 minutes to get to the trailhead. I arrived finally at 3pm at the starting point. Climbing up the white cloud trail took me around 2 hours including breaks.

Fascinating are the many shades of the color green. I have never seen that before.
On the mountain, nature offered a great variety of plants and flowers.
To climb all the stairs up and down you should have a good physical constitution. Especially walking downstairs requires some practice.
The morning of our second days was very fogy and humid. The air temperature was around 10-12 degree celsius. Nevertheless, I was never cold because the intense stair walking kept you warm.
We did one overnight in the Huangshan Baiyun Hotel. The rooms were equipped with six beds. In the morning, at 4.45am, we checked the weather conditions.
Approximate route that we walked during the 1.3 days.
